While the Maffini family’s first vines were planted in the seventies, the real beginning of this winery dates back to 1996, when Luigi’s dream to make wines from indigenous grapes with integrity and purity was realized. Luigi has a hands-off approach in the vineyard and cellar in order to create terroir-driven wines. Soils rich in clay, with a high concentration of limestone, in combination with temperature controlled stainless steel fermentation help maintain the purity of the grape’s expression. Organic yeasts from local surroundings are carefully selected and organic farming practices are utilized. All of these characters work together to preserve the native character of Luigi Maffini’s Fiano and Aglianco.
