About Maculan
Founded in 1947 in Breganze, a small town in the Province of Vicenza (Veneto), Maculan is now at the 3rd Generation of winemakers. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, hand harvested from Maculan’s own vineyards. After the harvest, the best clusters are selected manually, crushed and fermented in temp-controlled stain-less steel tanks. The maceration with the skins lasts 8 days with frequent, gentle punch-downs for a perfect extraction of the color. The wine is then aged for 1 year in French barriques, 50% new and 50% 2nd passage, and then further aged in bottle for 6 months before release.
In 1969, the Italian Government recognized the importance of Cabernet Sauvignon in this area by granting it the DOC under the Breganze appellation.
Palazzotto is one of the best representations of Fausto Maculan’s personal take on French varieties. Inspired by Bordeaux techniques and style, he has been able to add his own signature to this classic grape, crafting a wine that strikes an incredible balance between ripe, juicy berry and cassis flavors and elegant notes of fresh herbs and tobacco. Medium-bodied, with fine, ripe tannins and a persistently long, clean finish, this “Old-World” styled Cabernet Sauvignon is an excellent companion for grilled t-bone steaks and braised beef.
