About the Winery
Site makes wines that emphasize location and vintage. The winery sources fruit from just three highly regarded vineyards in Santa Barbara County: Bien Nacido Vineyards, Larner Vineyard, and Stolpman Vineyards. The mix of varietals—Roussanne, Viognier, Syrah and Grenache, complement a range of foods and are found at some of the greatest restaurants in the United States. Winemaker and owner, Jeremy Weintraub says “These sites promise wines that kindle our senses and intellect and leave a gut feeling of pleasure. I view each vintage with a fresh eye and an open mind. I don’t enforce a particular winemaking style but take an approach that’s nimble and dynamic and attuned solely to the vineyard and the vintage, not to a dogma.”
Jeremy is also the winegrower for Adelaida Vineyards and Winery. A Brooklyn native, he grew up drinking French, Italian, and German wines. He didn’t have a California wine until he was well into his twenties. After completing an MS in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis and earning a fellowship from Antinori’s Tignanello Estate in Tuscany, he held winemaking and grape growing positions in Central Otago, Martinborough, Long Island, Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, and Napa Valley. He was winemaker at Seavey Vineyard in Saint Helena before moving to the Central Coast to start Site. His wines reflect his upbringing – they are fresh, sometimes savory, and made for meals.
