The Cause de Theron ‘Terrasse’ has ripe kirsch aromas on the nose with hints of dried fruit. On the palate, this wine has fresh acidity and delicate tannins with flavours of ripe blueberries, black cherries and plums supported by notes of dried cranberries and violets. This wine is crafted without the use of oak and makes a pleasant change from traditional heavily-oaked Malbecs from the New World. Causse de Théron is the result of a collaboration between Antonio Morescalchi of Altos Las Hormigas and Chilean vineyard soil expert Pedro Parra to learn more about Malbec’s home in France, Cahors. Surprised by the soil diversity, they couldn’t help but make a little wine from two vineyards owned by a local family. We love Antonio and Pedro’s other wines, which always seem to focus on minerality and pure fruit, often eschewing the softening impact of oak.
